So...only worked 11.5 hours today. It was like a day off!
I also saw a train this evening, so that was okay. And I think that I might read a little before I go to bed...maybe make some more progress in I Henry IV. That has been pretty good so far. Most of Act II has just been insults. "Fat-kidneyed, bacon-fed lack-brain" and so on.
And this one... "A cup of sack, you rogue! Is there no virtue extant?"
So yeah. I thought about model trains today too. I spent a good couple of hours wondering if I should switch to N scale ... but I don't think that I will.
I guess that's pretty much all.
Oh! And this.
Expecting to Fly -- Neil Young (Buffalo Springfield) -- another song that should be heard at all costs
There you stood on the edge of your feather,
Expecting to fly.
While I laughed, I wondered whether
I could wave goodbye,
Knowin' that you'd gone.
By the summer it was healing,
We had said goodbye.
All the years we'd spent with feeling
Ended with a cry,
Babe, ended with a cry,
I tried so hard to stand
As I stumbled and fell to the ground.
So hard to laugh as I fumbled
And reached for the love I found,
Knowin' it was gone.
If I ever lived without you,
Now you know I'd die.
If I never said I loved you,
Now you know I'd try,
Babe, now you know I'd try.
I also never really appreciated how great of a song Sugar Mountain is. When I was driving down from Morraine Lake the other day in Banff it came on, and I thought about how perfect of a setting it was for that song (not just the coincidence of being in the mountains listening to a song about amountain, as it were). And I've liked it since.
And Amy! I still can't believe that you don't like lap-steel guitar. Tisk.

Stephen Carroll from the Weakerthans and Rob Baker from Tragically Hip both play one live (for some songs). For less twangy tastes listen to "Vaccination Scar" and "38 Years Old" from the Hip and the Weakerthans' "Benediction". *thumbs up*
